The project

Our mission and vision

Vissenaken Brewery aims to put Vissenaken, and by extension Tienen, on the world map. As an ethical company, caring for people and the environment is paramount. Consequently, they strive to comply with all applicable laws and regulations. Growth and profit are secondary; well-being is paramount. Knowledge and expertise are at the service of Belgian beer culture.

"People want to feel connected to companies they know. They want to be involved."

At the Vissenaken Brewery, consumers and producers meet at a very early stage of production. Where co-decision and co-production are possible, the brewers' creations are produced and consumed simultaneously. This achieves the pinnacle of prosumption and short supply chains. Communication (marketing) aims to build an open and mature relationship between the beer produced and the consumer. Mutual respect is fostered, and mutual learning takes place. Economic activity is based on a consumer relationship in which people place trust because they experience trust. This interaction creates value for society as a whole, benefiting everyone.

Ultimately, it's all a social event.

How do we translate our vision into practice?

A brewery pub fits perfectly into this picture. Still a dream for now.

What also fits in with this vision is 'brewery rental' or brewing beer for beer companies and associations, for giants and for parties, ... with personalized brews.

In the future, the project could even evolve into a cooperative. Crowdfunding would further increase community involvement.

The brewery wants to expand

By scaling up from 2 hectoliters to 10 hectoliters, the brewery enters a new dimension, creating opportunities to create and/or support social, cultural, sustainable, and value-added projects. Sustainability here encompasses not only the environmental footprint but also social and economic sustainability, and a sustainability that is neither limited in time nor geographically.

Benefits of an extension

A modernization and expansion to a 10-liter system improves the quality of the beers brewed. The heavy manual labor inherent in the previous system is significantly reduced. Brewhouse efficiency increases because more beer is extracted from the same raw materials. Energy is used more efficiently, which is more environmentally friendly.

Conditions for extension

External investors will not compromise the quality of the beer. It remains a local project, in Vissenaken or Tienen. Brewing and management of the brewery will remain as independent as possible. The intention is not to suddenly start brewing large volumes weekly. Gradual, organic growth is possible.

Initial situation

While the Vissenaken Brewery transcends the level of leisure activity, it doesn't serve as a source of income. Rather, it's an activity that generates prestige, influence, job satisfaction, pleasure, and happiness. Beer isn't brewed to generate cash flow, but rather to generate cash flow to brew beer.

Due to the growing demand from home and abroad for local and authentic beers, there is room to expand.
