Flemish Brabant drinks

Flemish Brabant drinks

Under the working title 'Flemish Brabant drinks', the province of Flemish Brabant has started a new heritage project in which the role of alcohol in daily life is central.

This book (204 pages) is an exploratory cultural-historical study of the importance of the production, distribution and consumption of alcohol in the identity formation of inhabitants of Flemish Brabant since 1800.

It sheds light on the role of brewers and distillers in social, political and cultural life, the social embedding of consumption practices and the portrayal of alcohol in advertising, songs, legislation, tourism and local history.
